The Sherpa CTO Story

A Sherpa is a Nepalese ethnic group. They support foreign trekkers and mountain climbers. They are known for their climbing skills. They thrive at high altitudes, providing oxygen for the groups on their journey. They act as Guides and Transporters and set up basecamps along the way. Sherpa CTO is an Technology Organizational Sherpa providing you the support you need on your journey.

In January 2023, I gave an update about my journey as a Technology Leader.

Through my career, I have gained a set of experiences coupled with my hunger for continuous learning and my passion for Fast Tempo, High Quality Software Delivery. These set of experiences add value to organizations in a Full Time CTO capacity or in an affordable Fractional CTO capacity depending on the organization's situation.

Friends and colleagues have reached out to me over the years about their Product and Engineering Growth Problems. We've had early morning coffee, lunches and discussions sitting around a fireplace to discuss their journey and I've provided guidance to assist them in their next steps. These conversations have went as far as interest in hiring me full time, however because of the organization's capital concerns as a startup or scaleup it did not make financial sense at the time. Additionally, I believe that startups and scaleups do not need to burn capital on the Full Time CTO overhead with many years of experience at their stage. Startups and scaleups really just need trusted guidance based on real world experiences that can help guide them through the early and growing to scale days.

In January 2023, I started to explore how I could offer a Fractional CTO service to help non-technical founders. I found that there is a strong need for startups and scaleups to gain trusted Technology Leadership guidance to help them navigate their early and growing and scaling days.

The Sherpa CTO Playbook will provide the challenges that organization are either facing now or will face in your Product and Engineering journey. This will come with an complimenting Sherpa CTO Assessment to assess the growth areas within your Product and Engineering organization.
